The tail is sharp, the macro fracture of the transient fault zone is flat, and the appearance is clear. The macroscopic morphology of the crack has the typical morphological characteristics of stress corrosion cracking.

Scanning the fracture with a scanning electron microscope shows that its plane is a fracture unit. In the crack propagation zone, the crack originates from a hard point in the non inclusion or grain. The fracture pattern is like a river pattern, extending from the center to the surrounding area, short and bent, with fewer branches, and continuous expansion. When the tubesheet is under stress, the defects or inclusions on the metal surface form microcrack sources, and the solution inside and outside the hole is not easy to convection and diffusion. Due to the increase of metal ions and hydrogen ions in the crack, in order to maintain electrical neutrality, the sulfur anion outside the crack enters the crack to form corrosive acid, which makes the corrosion inside the crack continue in an autocatalytic manner.
